As an engineer, I've seen a lot of terrible presentations. While PowerPoint can be used as a powerful tool, it is often abused in both corporations and academia. But it doesn't have to be that way - let me open your eyes to just how effective PowerPoint presentations can be.

What I Do

In my research at Penn State under Michael Alley, we experimentally showed that slides with lots of bulleted text are not the most effective at communicating technical information. The audience is more likely to comprehend and retain technical information from slides that follow the Assertion-Evidence approach and utilize multimedia learning principles. This research is the basis for my work as a consultant.
